Laundry Room Remodel
After living in my house for ten years, I FINALLY remodeled my laundry room to make it more functional and organized. The previous owners had installed a small shelf above the washer and dryers as well as a small bench, but since this is the main entry into my house, I needed more storage for hats, mittens & shoes etc. I knew that custom built in cabinets would be the best option for what I had in mind!
Before

After

I hired Catalina Closets to design and built the custom cabinets and they were absolutely amazing to work with! I had a very specific vision in mind and they were able to custom build everything so that my vision was executed perfectly!
The first step in the design process was for Catalina Closets to come to my house to meet to get a feel for the size and scope of the project as well as sitting down with me to figure out the design of the custom built in cabinets.
After the first initial meeting, they sent over a 3D model of what the cabinets would look like based on the design elements I wanted. This was incredibly helpful so that I would visually see the size and scale of the cabinets. While designing the cabinets I knew that I wanted to leave space above the washer and dryer for laundry baskets. I also knew I wanted open shelving for shoes. Both of these design elements provided so much more storage than before and made the space so much more functional!

After we finished solidifying the design elements, Catalina Closets came back again to provide me with paint and material samples so that I would choose what material and color I wanted the cabinets to be.
I originally was thinking about painting the walls a more neutral color and then having the cabinets be a bright teal, but I quickly realized that long term bright cabinets might not be something future owners of the house would like. Catalina Closets had SO many different color and material options that the sky was the limit for what I would choose from!
It was also incredibly helpful to look at the cabinet colors next to the wall color I selected to make sure it was felt like a good fit.
For paint, I choose “Mint Condition” from Sherwin Williams. This is the perfect soft subtle mint color.
After I selected the cabinet color, Catalina Closets came back to built and install the cabinets. Within one short day the cabinets were completely finished and installed! If you’re Southern Wisconsin and looking for custom built in cabinets, I highly recommend Catalina Closets! They quality of their work and customer service is by far the best in the area!
Now I’m just over here dreaming about custom built in bookshelves in my office!
