The Best Midwest Patio Remodel
Nine years ago, at the ripe old age of 23 years old I moved into my current home. At that time, I was a teacher so money was definitely tight and I really didn’t have the ability to do any house projects at that time. (And honestly…I was/and am really cheap so it’s hard for me to justify spending money on optional house projects.)
Now, 9 years later, I’m older and wiser and I 100% have learned that spending money on things that bring you joy are 100% worth the cost.
Paying to have a patio installed, definitely fell into the “want” not “need” category, but since having my patio built and furnished, I spend hours outside working, taking Zoom meetings, reading books and eating dinner. I’ve found so much joy and peach spending time outside with my dogs and I’m incredibly happy that I finally took the plunge and spent the money on the remodel project.

I hired a friend to build the paver patio last year and then this year I spent a lot of time thoughtfully picking out patio furniture from Polywood. I say “thoughtfully” because Polywood patio furniture has a 20 year warranty so I wanted to make sure that whatever I chose would be something that would really fit the space long term. I also knew that I wanted a dining room table since I love eating dinner outside as much as I can. The only challenge is that my patio is on the smaller side, so I knew I would most likely only be able to fit a 4 person table & chairs. One of the focal points I knew I wanted was matching rocking chairs. My mom dog sits for us quite a bit and I knew that she is someone who loves sitting outside on a rocking chair. It’s funny because I originally bought the rocking chairs thinking my mom would be the one utilizing them, but they’re actually the spot I sit in the most. It’s the perfect spot to sit and work during the day. Or enjoy a drink at night.
